Route Overview
The river is much smaller here and the walking is quiet and pastoral. This is a beautiful section, but logistics are more rural than the Thames Valley rail stages.
Alternatively stay at hotels/campsites in Lechlade and Cricklade.
Bus / Taxi Warning
This section cannot be completed by train alone. Swindon is the nearest practical rail hub, but both Lechlade and Cricklade need a bus or taxi connection.
Train, Bus and Taxi Notes
Use Swindon as the main London railhead. For Lechlade, check Pulhams route 64 from Swindon. For Cricklade, Stagecoach routes 51 and 53 link the town with Swindon; check times carefully, especially for evenings and Sundays, or pre-book a taxi.
